Caring for the poor and needy is a sobering responsibility for which we will all be held accountable: "If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered" (Prov. 21:13). Helping them is not a peripheral issue. May God one day say of us what he said of King Josiah: "He defended the cause of the poor and needy, and so all went well.
